The responsibilities of the Liturgy Committee are numerous.  The first priority is to assure that weekend liturgies are life-giving experiences for the parish family.  This involves planning all liturgies, recruiting and  training ministers for all ministries, and follow-up.  Major feasts of the liturgical year require special focus.  Celebrating Ecumenism is also the work of the committee, which contributes to the yearly community ecumenical service.  Sometimes there is a need for very special liturgies, such as the healing service that was held for the local community following the murders at the neighbouring McDonald’s Restaurant.  Members of a parish Liturgy Committee may also attend regional and national conferences, or may be part of the Diocesan Liturgy Committee.  The Liturgy Committee has an invaluable role to play “in preparing, celebrating and improving the parish community’s life of worship.”
